Between Two Women is the provocative title of the book which has sold 3,000 copies since it was published last September.

On closer examination the cover reveals that the two women are Bruce Woods caregivers, his mother and his grandmother. Woods calls his publication a 'smile' book. Set in his hometown of Stratford, it chronicles life in the 1930s-1940s as seen through the eyes of a growing boy with special attention to the Second World War.

"Learn to laugh at yourself, you'll never run out of material," quipped Woods, who does just that in his book. He also pokes fun at his family and friends.

Turning the pages of this book brings the reader into life as it was lived in a bygone era, which today is virtually forgotten.

The experience evokes the Andy Griffith Show in the town of Mayberry, with Gomer Pyle and Barney Fife. But underlying the humour is a serious story of life that has brought back memories of the past that only a folk history can do.

Woods is a retired Baptist minister who has lived in the Hamilton area since 1972. He will be on hand at the Clappison's Corner store on May 2 from 5-8 p.m. on May 3 from 11:a.m. to 3:30p.m.
