Dec 17, 2009
Hamilton author and journalist James Elliott, whose most recent book, Strange Fatality: The Battle of Stoney Creek is a category bestseller, is slated to address the Probus Club of Flamborough on Monday, December 21.
Elliott’s book details a little-known battle that changed the course of the War of 1812 and determined the fate of the colony that would become Ontario.
Since being released at the end of May, Strange Fatality has been hailed as “a real cliff-hanger” by the Toronto Star and “a nail-biting, flesh-and-blood showdown that feels like it took place last week” by the Windsor Star. Published by Robin Brass Studio of Montreal, the book has already sold out its first printing.
Elliott, a former reporter with the Hamilton Spectator, spent five years researching and writing the book. He is also the author of If Ponies Rode Men, the true story of Hamilton’s first family.
The Probus Club will meet at 10 a.m. in the Party Room at Elim Villa, 87 Hamilton Street North in Waterdown.
