Good books, tasty treats and the chance to support a great cause are all in store this month, at a special event planned by the local chapter of the Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign.
The Blooms Café will feature a unique book exchange: guests are asked to bring in six books, in exchange for seven books that others have donated. They will also have the chance to discuss their favourite books with others over coffee, tea and treats (all donated by members of Blooms for Africa), and listen to local authors read from their works. Members of the group, which organized the Blooms for Africa garden tour in Waterdown last summer, will also be on hand to provide information on their organization and the work of the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
The Bloom Café book exchange takes place Sat. Feb. 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at First Unitarian Church (170 Dundurn St. S., Hamilton). Entrance is by donation. Tax receipts are provided for donations of $20 or more. All proceeds from the book exchange will be donated to the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign.
More information on the Blooms Café is available by contacting Pat Dickinson at 905-689-4525.
