Comedians Manolis Zontanos, Mayce Galoni and Clifford Myers took to the Memorial Hall stage on Feb. 9 to entertain guests during the third annual Waterdown ComedyFest.

ComedyFest a roaring success

The third annual ComedyFest, hosted by the Waterdown Lions Club earlier this month, was a huge success.

The audience was treated to the comedic antics of Manolis Zontanos, Mayce Galoni and Clifford Myers, who have collectively appeared on television’s Comedy Network, Second City, Yuk Yuks, Club 54, among others.

The Feb. 9 event, held at Memorial Hall, was a fundraiser for the Waterdown service club to help it on its quest to fund community projects. It also served as an opportunity to increase the club’s visibility in the community.

This year’s instalment of the Waterdown ComedyFest, said club president Rick Gallienne, “was a hoot.”

“The house was packed for both shows and we were very pleased with the funds raised at ComedyFest this year,” he said.

Over the course of the past seven years, the Waterdown Lions Club’s fundraising efforts have amounted to $100,000, money that has boosted numerous organizations, including CHOICES, Drummond House, sports associations, the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides program, and local food banks.

“It’s thanks to our volunteer members that we are able to accomplish this,” said Gallienne. “If we had more members, we could do more.”

Community residents interested in taking the Lions Club “for a test drive,” can call 289-431-5020 noted the club president. Additional information about the club is also available online at www.waterdownlions.ca.
