SOROPTIMIST HONOUR COMMUNITY BOOSTER: Waterdown District High School student Kylie Johnson received the Violet Richardson Award recently. The honour is named after one of the founding members of Soroptimists International and is given to a teenage girl to recognize her volunteer work in the community. Applications are received from across the Dundas- Ancaster- Flamborough areas. In addition to receiving a financial gift, the recipient chooses an organization to receive recognition; Kylie chose to direct her donation to the YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington. FOR A CURE: The Mountain Athletic Club (MAC) 14U girls took part in the second annual Digging for a Cure Tournament at M.M. Robinson. The tournament, hosted by Burlington Blaze, raised money for breast cancer research. To boost the cause, the team wore pink shirts throughout the tourney. After defeating Burlington Blaze and Peel Selects 94, MAC finished fourth in round-robin play. MAC was defeated by Forest City Green in the quarter-finals.
