Santa Claus makes his way through Waterdown during the 2012 Flamborough Santa Claus Parade.

Santa rolls into town

Santa Claus was the guest of honour at Saturday’s Flamborough Santa Claus Parade, which wound its way through the Victorian Village of Waterdown.

According to organizers, some 60,000 individuals turned out for the night-time festive procession.

Facing possible extinction, Flamborough Santa Claus Parade volunteers put the call out to businesses and parade-goers to generously donate to the Loonie Bins on the night of the parade. And people stepped up in a huge way, said Mary Lamb, a member of the event’s organizing committee.

Parade-goers dropped $16,300 into the Loonie Bins, guaranteeing the return of the parade next November.
