WDHS video wins award

Flamborough Review

By Dianne Cornish

Waterdown District High School (WDHS) was one of three winning schools announced Thursday in the Hamilton Crime Stoppers safe school challenge.

Students were asked to create a two-minute video encouraging student awareness and responsibility in keeping schools safe while also promoting Crime Stoppers in their school community.

WDHS students videotaped the local high school in their submission, which portrayed theft, violence and drug dealing in a high school setting. Entitled “Guardian Angel,” the local entry was up against 21 other submissions.

Winning entries were awarded plaques and cheques.

Crime Stoppers is an anonymous police tip line that offers rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of criminals.
