Los Lobos musician Louie Pérez charms fans at Waterdown's True North Gallery

Flamborough Review

Music fans and art lovers turned out for a special VIP reception featuring Los Lobos musician Louie Pérez at Waterdown’s True North Gallery Monday night.

For the event, Pérez provided 50 limited edition prints of two of his ink and watercolour pieces for purchase. As well, a number of small originals were available at the Griffin Street gallery.

Following an extended meet and greet Pérez shared some stories of the band’s early forays into Canada and, accompanied by Los Lobos percussionist Enrique “Bugs” Gonzalez, treated guests to a short set that included “Saint Behind the Glass,” “Tony and Maria” and a cover of The Modernettes’ “The Rebel Kind.”

Los Lobos currently is on tour in Ontario, with stops slated for the Burlington Performing Arts Centre (Jan. 31), the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts (Feb. 1) and the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre in St. Catharines (Feb. 2).
