Hamilton police dealt with a few incidents in Flamborough overnight on Feb. 5. Suspects entered a vehicle parked in a driveway on Spring Creek Dr. and stole various small items. A 2004 GMC pickup was taken from a driveway on 7th Concession Road and a 2014 Dodge pickup truck was taken from a driveway on Woodhill Road.
Sometime between Feb. 4 and 6, suspects removed a trash compactor from the rear of a business on Horseshoe Crescent. Due to the weight of the compactor, the culprits would have needed a hoist and truck to remove it.
On Feb. 6 at 7:22 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on Lynden Road for speeding. A check revealed that the driver’s licence was under suspension. The driver was subsequently served with a summons for an upcoming court date.
On Feb. 6 at 7:05 p.m., police were called to assist the fire department at a residence on Safari Road. The homeowner reported hearing crackling sound near the chimney. It was later discovered to be a hydro wire. Fire crews put out the fire and hydro workers repaired the wire. The residence sustained no damage and there were no injuries.
A resident of Elderberry Lane ordered various items online from a large department store. All but one item, a smoke detector, was delivered. The store and Canada Post confirmed the delivery of the smoke detector. It appears that it may have been taken at some point after delivery.
Sometime between 9:30 p.m. and just after midnight on Feb. 6, suspects took a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck from a parking lot on Highway 5. The same vehicle was involved in a theft in Brantford. Police will be reviewing surveillance video.
On Feb. 7, police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Centre Road. A check revealed that the driver’s licence was under suspension. The driver was subsequently served with a summons for an upcoming court date.
Suspects forced open a rear window to gain entry to a residence on Rockcliffe Road Feb. 11. While inside, they ransacked the home and took various items. The scene of crime officer attended to collect evidence.
On Feb. 12 at approximately 1:35 a.m., police responded to a collision in the area of Centre Road and 11th Concession East. Police located a single vehicle that had crashed into a tree on someone's Centre Road property. The pickup truck had severe front-end damage and no occupants. Police later located the driver, who was charged with careless driving and failing to remain at the scene.
Also on Feb. 12, at approximately 1:39 a.m., police assisted the fire department with a car fire on 8th Concession West. The 2003 Chevrolet Silverado had come into contact with a tree. The front end of the vehicle was on fire and had to be extinguished by the fire department. The collision with the tree had ruptured the gas tank. The vehicle was vacant and the driver could not be located. Police are asking if anyone witnessed this collision or if they saw anyone on foot in the area at that time to please contact police.
