NFI pruning workshops

The Niagara Fruit Institute aims to help local gardeners blossom, with several public education workshops.

The first series, "Orchard in Your Backyard," will kick off with a pruning workshop on Saturday, March 8. The session runs from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and will feature presentations on tree care, pruning systems, tools and orchard experience. Norm Hebert, farm manager for E.D. Smith run the workshop, which takes place at 938 Barton Street East, Winona.

The Niagara Fruit Institute focuses on promoting understanding and interest in the culture and history of fruit farming, educating residents on the benefits of eating fruit as part of a healthy diet and increasing understanding of fruit growing and its interaction with the environment.
