4-H Calf Club gets down to business
Agriculture
May 23, 2008
On Thursday, April 17, the 4-H Dairy Calf Club of Flamborough held its second meeting at Fradon Holsteins farm.
Club President Gordon Alblas opened the meeting, and Amanda, the secretary, read the minutes.
As a new routine in 4-H, Matthew Elgersma and Deanna Ringleberg were asked ahead of time to prepare a speech for the club. The meeting was then handed over to farm owner Frank Donkers, who explained his operation to the club.
Members then toured the facility. In the heifer barn, they searched for good calves before returning to the cow barn to judge a class of five-year-old animals.
Following the judging, the meeting was closed.
The club's next meeting was slated for Thursday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Cranston Holsteins.
