
Waterdown did not fare well at all, even though we were on familiar territory. Galt won the event, the Waterford team came second, Waterdown came third and Hamilton Anglers and Hunting Association came in fourth.
Dave Atkinson won the top Waterdown honours, shooting a 47/50 - congratulations, Dave, for your fine effort.
Waterdown is presently in fourth place in the league, with three more months and three shoots to go. Waterdown's House League shoot was held January 27, with some very fine scores being posted.
Leading the "A" class were five scores -all 48/50. The marksmen were Gary Paron, Scott Souter, Willis Yacobucci and Brad Treanor.
Heading up "B" class was Harv Mantel, coming in with a 47/50. "C" class was won by James Murray with a 40/50 and "D" class was won by Zach Amos with 39/50.
Ice fishing is now under way. However, it is good to be cautious about ice conditions. Lake Simcoe is producing some fine catches of perch in surrounding bays but one needs to be very careful when venturing into deeper water after lake trout and whitefish. These conditions should change as colder weather comes in February.
Jim Sales and the writer were fishing this past week at Gilford and Beaverton and both areas had excellent perch fishing.
