In addition to the Sisters, the recent festivities at the Snake Road facility were attended by SSND Associates and friends, some from as far away as England, Italy, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. The celebration followed the Sisters' Annual Assembly.
The Jubilarians are S. Rita Kittel (75 years), S. M. Helene Schuett (70 years), S. M. Bernice Volk (70 years), S. M. Evelyn Volk (70 years), S. Doreen Lackenbauer (60 years), S. Audrey Marie Mittelholtz (60 years), S. M. Monica Reil (50 years), S. Joyce Smith (50 years), and S. M. Lois Zettler (50 years).
The day-long celebration began with Eucharist and continued with a formal dinner and an afternoon of socializing and dancing.
"There have been many graced moments in my life. This has been my fifth Jubilee celebration and each has been a special time of grace and blessing," Sister Kittel, aged 97, said of her 75th Jubilee. "For the wonderful graced years God has given me and for the love and friendship of all my Sisters, I am truly grateful."
The School Sisters of Notre Dame is an international community of vowed women religious in mission. Sisters of the Canadian Province minister in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, England, Italy, and Sudan.
