Do you have what it takes to lead an extraordinary life?

Chrissy Atley believes you do. In fact, the Carlisle courage coach believes everyone has it in them to lead happy, fulfilling lives; it’s just a matter of setting goals and taking manageable steps towards achieving them.

Two years ago, Atley found herself overwhelmed and unhappy. After going out for lunch with a girlfriend, the new mom was feeling positive and inspired. She returned home and watched a movie, The Secret, which had been gathering dust on her shelf.

“It opened up a whole new world to me,” said Atley of the movie. “I was just so inspired to think that we could create our own lives and really do whatever we want to do.”

And so began Atley’s journey toward happiness. Her goal, she explained, was to empower women of all ages to play their biggest and best game. She hired a life coach to help guide her; subsequently she completed her coaching certification program and kick-started her courage coaching business, Total Harmony Coaching.

Armed with a degree in psychology, Atley took part in a six-day training session in Chicago at Coach University. She was then required to participate in a four-week tele-class and complete a specific number of coaching hours to earn her life coach certification.

Atley is determined to enable women to follow their dreams. She offers in-person sessions at Courtcliffe Park in Carlisle. During the 45-minute sessions, she helps her clients set goals and discusses how they will go about reaching those objectives, while enjoying a walk through the local nature park.

She also offers telephone class sessions, which is convenient for clients who may not live near the Carlisle area.

According to the bubbly, spirited mom, women looking for a courage coach should be open to the idea of having to make life-altering decisions. Personally, Atley did just that when she handed her resignation letter to her previous employer in order to pursue a career as a courage coach.

To reach out to the women in the community, Atley created a workbook, The Total Harmony Way. “The workbook is available for people who aren’t quite ready to commit to coaching,” she explained.

Although she’s mastered the skills of running her own business, coaching women of all ages, and has written a workbook to inspire others, Atley felt that she could do even more by becoming a Level 2 Reiki practitioner. The energy healing treatment helps break down psychological and physical barriers that could be holding someone back from reaching their goals and makes a great complement to coaching, Atley explained.

At first, Atley focused on coaching women between the ages of 25 and 40. She has branched out to include teens. “In high school, a lot of people don’t know which direction to go in and I would just love to work with that age group to show them that they can be and do anything that they want,” she said.

Ultimately, she’d like to concentrate her efforts on Grade 11 students who are about to make their course selection for the following academic year. “When they are picking their courses for Grade 12, that’s going to lead them to college and university...I want to get them on track early on,” she explained.

To accommodate the needs of women who have recently retired, Atley has added a Retirement Coach to the Total Harmony Coaching business, who is also a Reiki Practitioner.

A retirement coach, noted Atley, is “for people who are looking at the second chapter in their lives, helping them reconnect with that passion.”

Atley wants women to “really be living a happy life, doing what they love, not settling for less and to have an inner-sense of peace, trusting themselves going forward.”
