As the board looks to modernize its current data backup storage system, trustees were provided with three tenders for a Nexsan Disk Subsystem to refresh the existing system.
“Basically, what we are trying to do is redesign our old server and in order to do that, we are purchasing a new server system, which has more capacity,” said Director of Education, Marcel Castura.
The company, Azuris, estimated the total cost of upgrading the board’s system at $45,228, which was the lowest bid presented to the board.
Prior to approving the motion, Carolyn Cornale, trustee for wards 12 through 15, wanted to ensure that the proposed storage system would include security barriers.
“Absolutely, I can guarantee that,” said Castura of the system’s enhanced security.
Another item on the agenda was the cost of snow removal this season. Seven contractors, according to the board, submitted bids on the project and met the qualification criteria outlined.
The board, which has budgeted $750,000 for snow clearing this winter, moved that a four-year contract for snow clearing be signed with four companies, one of which would be exclusively responsible for sweeping duties at all Catholic schools in Hamilton.
