NDP supporters cheer successes across Hamilton Sweet continues to lead polls

NDP supporters await the arrival of ADFW candidate Gordon Guyatt at his Westdale campaign headquarters, reports Catherine O'Hara.

About 30 people have gathered, and while Guyatt lags behind in the early poll results, the crowd has been cheering the successes of Wayne Marsten and David Christopherson when they appear on the televised coverage.

With 45 of 253 polls reporting, Guyatt has 1,280, or 15.8 per cent of the vote so far. Conservative David Sweet leads with 3,864 votes and Liberal Arlene MacFarlane-VanderBeek has 2,935 votes. Green Party candidate Peter Ormond has 1,081 votes so far, and Marxist-Leninst Jamilé Ghaddar has 14 votes out of 45 polls reported.
