
New this year are several local history books, including Images of Burlington, First Here and Jonathan Vance’s latest book, Unlikely Soldiers, as well as several First and Second World War military history books.
The Heritage Society will be selling its own publications of marriage records, obituary notices and directory listings for the Flamborough area. In addition to the Waterdown Heritage Calendar 2009, copies of From West Flamborough’s Storied Past, ... and they came to East Flamborough, Millgrove Through The Years and The Mountsberg Heritage will also be available for purchase.
The Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS) branches from Hamilton, Brant and Halton-Peel will be selling genealogical supplies and research booklets. Historical societies and groups from Glanbrook, Dundas, Hamilton and Burlington will have their latest books and research materials on display. The City of Hamilton Municipal Heritage Committee (formerly LACAC) will have Hamilton Heritage volumes, reference materials and area posters for sale. Dorothy Turcotte will have copies of her books plus Grimsby history books for sale. The Hamilton branch of the United Empire Loyalist Society will have its historical booklets plus a book by Jean Rae Baxter, The Way Lies North.
For lovers of antiquarian material, first editions and rare books, Capricorn Books and Ephemera and John Rush Books will provide a wide selection. Dennis Morley of Guelph (Canadiana, secondhand books), The Book Band (children, history maps), Gary Evans (several local history books), Celia Perry (good second-hand books) and Natural Heritage Books (Canadiana, genealogy books) will also have items for sale. In addition, there will be many good quality second-hand hardcover (children, fiction, history and biography) books for sale.
Of particular interest to local property owners will be a seminar led by Sharon Vattay, a heritage architect with Goldsmith Borgal & Company Ltd. who teaches courses in architectural history at the University of Toronto.
Her Powerpoint illustrated presentation, takes place in the parlour at 11 a. m., and will focus on defining heritage designation and heritage planning in the amalgamated City of Hamilton.

In addition to the many vendors and activities, draws for door prizes provided by exhibitors will take place throughout the day.
The annual book sale supports the heritage society’s ongoing work in the community, and the operation of the Flamborough Archives.
Admission and parking are free. Refreshments, including an excellent selection of sandwiches for lunch, will be available.
