Bikes for CAS kids

Greg Pace of paceperformance.com is again helping to raise money to purchase 25-30 new bikes and helmets as Christmas presents for kids of varying ages entrusted to the Halton Children’s Aid Society.

Canadian Tire’s Fairview Street branch is offering to help Pace in the endeavour.

All donations are eligible for a tax receipt from the Children’s Aid Society. Canadian Tire money would also be gratefully received.

SWIMMING

Club offers lessons

Swimming lessons for children ages 5-10 interested in joining the Burlington Aquatic Devilrays competitive swim club are being held soon.

Lessons are 45 minutes long twice a week. Children must be able to swim one length of a 25-metre pool unassisted.

Assessments must be done prior to starting lessons. Tryouts for the swim team will be held Nov. 27-28.

The next swimming session begins Monday, Dec. 1.

HOCKEY

Breast cancer fair

In remembrance and tribute to hockey mom Sharon Brown, who lost a courageous battle with cancer in August, players, coaches and family members of the minor atom AAA rep Eagles hockey team are attempting to raise $10,000 to support breast cancer research at the Juravinski Cancer Centre at McMaster University.

One of the events is the Hockey Moms Breast Cancer Fair, a day-long sale of donated baked goods, silent auctions, gift baskets, jewelry, toys, books and other assorted goodies.

Included is a special silent auction offer of four premium tickets to the Saturday, Dec. 20 NHL game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.

The fair is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 29 from 10 a. m.-5 p. m. at the Wave Twin Rinks’ front lobby.

U-18 girls tryouts

The tryouts for the Burlington Youth Soccer Club’s U-18 girls’ OYSL team (born 1991) will commence at Corpus Christi Secondary School at Upper Middle between Appleby Line and Burloak) from 6-7:30 p. m., Monday, Nov 24.
