Don Spaetzel, left, Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale MPP Ted McMeekin and Lynda Murdoch Furchner were on par at the recent Hamilton CIM and CGA charity golf tournament benefiting McMaster Children's Hospital.
The Change Management Technologist with ArcelorMittal Dofasco was diligent when it came to boosting C.I.M,'s local branch this year. Spaetzel took on the responsibilities of creating the group's newsletter and updating the branch's website.
And for that, "I got the diamond pin...for my service to the branch and the organization," he said, adding that it is the second highest award C.I.M. offers.
As a team, the C.I.M. Hamilton branch was presented with three national awards at the organization's AGM held on June 19-21, including a the Public Relations, Community Activities and Membership Services award.
"This is a team effort," stated Spaetzel with pride. "This is the second year that this team has won national awards."
The 17 C.I.M. branches strewn across the nation strive to promote management professionalism, efficiency, effectiveness and excellence in individuals and organizations, states the group's website.
Becoming the recipient of national awards proves that the Hamilton branch has been dedicated to the organization's mandate, explained Spaetzel.
"What those awards show is the strength of our particular branch and what we teach," explained Spaetzel.
Various community activities, such as a wine tour held in the Peninsula region and a golf tournament in support of McMaster Hospital, helped the local group earn the Community Activities award.
As for boosting Membership Services, the Hamilton Branch began offering skilled development courses this year. The group also hosts business dinner meetings.
Always looking to up the ante, Spaetzel and members of the Hamilton branch are actively thinking up new ideas to increase awareness about the organization and its services, such as hosting a course information night, slated for August 20 at Mohawk College, and a yearly program management course in January.
