Electoral boundaries report tabled

The Flamborough-Glanbrook federal electoral district, as proposed by the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario.

Electoral boundaries report tabled

The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario report, redrawing the province’s federal electoral map, was tabled in the House of Commons this week.

The report features substantial changes to the electoral map and includes 15 new electoral districts in various Ontario municipalities, including Hamilton.

The commission’s report recommends changing the current Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale riding to Flamborough-Glanbrook. The population of the new riding is more than 97,000 residents.

UPDATE: Riding boundary changes reflect growth

Dundas, Westdale and urban Ancaster will be placed in a new riding called Ancaster, while Flamborough, Glanbrook and rural Ancaster will make up the new Flamborough-Glanbrook riding.

The report also calls for changes to other Hamilton ridings.

Overall, the recommendations are similar to what the commission first proposed when it unveiled the new ridings for the city last August.

More to come.
