Fire crews battle Flamborough Centre blaze

By Catherine O’Hara • Review Staff

Hamilton Emergency Services – Fire crews were called to the scene of a fire on John Martin Crescent in Flamborough Centre this morning (Friday, Nov. 30).

The call for service was received at approximately 8:30 a.m.  and was placed by the homeowners. There were no reported injuries to the residents or fire crews who tended to the scene, located in a rural part of Flamborough just north of Waterdown.

Because the area isn’t outfitted with hydrants, several tanker trucks were dispatched. Four trucks from Waterdown’s Station 24 responded, as did four other tankers and pumpers – a lot of resources, noted fire information officer Dave Christopher.

According to Christopher, the blaze originated in the garage and spread to part of the home. However, firefighters were able to confine the fire to a section of the home, mitigating damage to the entire property.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. A dollar loss was not immediately available.

At 11:30 a.m., firefighters were still at the scene, where they’ll remain on standby for a few more hours.
