Hamilton Mayor’s State of the City address set for Jan. 29

By Kevin Werner • METROLAND WEST MEDIA GROUP

Mayor Bob Bratina will be holding his third State of the City address at the Grand Olympia Hospitality and Banquet Centre in Stoney Creek Jan. 29.

Bratina has made it a point since he was elected mayor in 2010 to hold mayoral events in the suburban areas outside the traditional downtown Hamilton locations. His first State of the City event, sponsored by the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce, was held at the Carlisle Golf and Country Club.

Last year, the mayor’s address was staged at the Waterfront Banquet and Conference Centre. The event was sponsored by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.

The mayor spoke to a sold-out crowd at the Powerhouse Restaurant in October for the Stoney Creek Chamber’s mayor’s luncheon. At that time, he touched on a number of topics, including the new Pan Am Stadium, economic development and light-rail transit.

The Mayor’s State of the City address is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the renovated Grand Olympia, located at the corner of Barton Street and Fruitland Road.
