Hamilton picks up tourism awards

By Kevin Werner • METROLAND WEST MEDIA GROUP

Hamilton’s tourism and culture division was the big award winner at the 2013 Economic Developers Council of Ontario’s annual conference in London, Ont.

The city received two publication awards for the tourism department’s Experience Hamilton Visitor Guide, and Talking Tourism Industry e-newsletter, at the event held Feb. 7.

“This recognition highlights the many innovative ways our city is connecting with visitors, industry partners, and residents,” said Anna Bradford, director of tourism and culture.

In addition, the city also received awards for the best website www.tourismhamilton.com, best interactive data base for the Visit Hamilton App. and for the best use of social media.

Last year, the city’s economic development division won four marketing awards, for its website, publication and advertising promoting the city’s open for business strategy.

“I continue to be proud of our city,” said Mayor Bob Bratina. “All five of the awards we received provide an opportunity to show our residents and visitors Hamilton’s diverse attractions, events and businesses.”
