Review makes the OCNA cut

Flamborough Review staff are in the running for top honours in the Ontario Community Newspapers Association Better Newspaper Competition.

Review editor Brenda Jefferies, who has spent the last few months filling in for the Hamilton Community News managing editor, is a finalist in the annual competition’s Editor of the Year category.

“Brenda personifies community editor and I am so pleased and proud that she has been nominated as OCNA’s Editor of the Year. And while she’s currently making her home at Hamilton Community News, I am confident residents are aware of just how hard Brenda has worked to make Flamborough a better place in which to live,” said Metroland West Media Group’s Halton Division editor-in-chief, Jill Davis.

In 2010, the Rotary Club of Waterdown presented Jefferies with the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. The life-long Waterdown resident was singled out for her commitment to building a better community.

Hamilton Community News staffers are fortunate to have her as their editor,” said Davis.

Review advertising representative Alistair Murray’s 2012 Valentine’s Day ad received a nod in the Original Ad Idea for publications with circulation numbers in excess of 10,000.

The nomination, noted advertising manager Ted Lindsay, recognizes Murray and the advertising and creative team’s superior work.

“As a group, we work hard to represent Flamborough’s top notch business community. To be recognized in this way is a very special acknowledgement of our dedication,” he said.

The winners will be announced at a special awards gala on March 22 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Vaughn.
