They’re ready to rock your socks off.
Three Flamborough bands – as well as musical acts from Burlington, Milton and Oakville – have entered Metroland’s Best of the West battle of the bands contest, hosted in partnership by the Flamborough Review, Burlington Post, Milton Canadian Champion and Oakville Beaver community newspapers.
Now, it’s up to you, our readers, to check out their videos and vote for your favourite local band.
The Flamborough band with the most votes will be named the regional finalist and will compete against the winning bands in neighbouring regions with the hope of clinching the championship title and performing at the Burlington Sound of Music this summer.
A performer at the Hamilton Music Awards Showcase Finals at Mohawk College, Inner Volition is a Waterdown alternative rock band comprised of four members, including Brock Hewitt (lead vocals/guitar), Nate Manten (guitar/keyboards/vocals), Alex Chiarelli (bass/vocals) and Jake Hagey (drums).
The group, which regularly plays at area bars and venues, also landed a gig at last year’s Oh Canada! Ribfest at Memorial Park in Waterdown.
Flamborough’s second band entry, Shanny and The Nannigans is comprised of three “life long buddies,” including Mitch Thompson, Will Thompson and Alex Carson, who have been jamming together for years.
After finding their groove, the group has started writing and releasing its own songs – music “they truly believe in.”
Cease to Retreat, a four-piece rock n’ roll group, includes members Eric Thorn, Evan Thorn, Eric Lauff and Lennie Taylor.
The Waterdown band is constantly “creating music you’ve never heard before that will blow your mind and make you come crawling back for more,” according to the band’s bio.
Check out Flamborough’s contestants here. The voting period, which opened February 6, ends on Friday, February 17.
