Shelley Scott, executive director, Flamborough Information and Community Services
The Canadian Red Cross Society has been in the Flamborough community for over 71 years. The branch office is located at 279 Dundas St. E. in Waterdown. Some of the programs we provide are: transportation; Meals on Wheels and Home Health Care Equipment rentals.
Meals on Wheels provides a hot meal five days a week on a three-week rotation, from Monday to Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Meals are delivered by volunteers who live in the community. Frozen meals are delivered once a week and are ordered from an easy-to-use menu. A large variety of frozen meals is available, including vegetarian, diabetic, minced, pureed, renal, low sodium and low fat selections.
Home health equipment rentals are available for anyone over the age of 17. A requisition from a physiotherapist, occupational therapist or other medical professional is required. Rentals are offered on a monthly basis.
Red Cross volunteers are well screened, friendly and eager to help clients maintain their independence. If we can be of assistance, or if you would like to join our volunteer driver team, please call the Red Cross at 905-689-0732.
