Letter to the Editor: Loads of thanks from the Tyke Sabres

Dear Editor:

The Flamborough Sabres Tyke Hockey team would like to thank all of the local businesses, services, and citizens who supported their recent toy drive, bake sale, and Sabres Care wristband sales for Sick Kids Hospital.

Travelling to Sick Kids via a donated bus, the team was able to personally deliver over $5,000 worth of gift cards, toys and games including a wide range of jewellery, dream catchers, books, T-shirts, hand-carved games, sports bottles, and even some iPod, iPad and DVD electronics.  For up to the next 12 months, the donations will be given to bring a ray of happiness to the young patients of the Oncology, Cardiac, and MRI units at Sick Kids during their sometimes lengthy stays, for birthdays and other medical graduation celebrations.

The following are the Flamborough and area businesses that supported the drive with generous donations:  Al’s Source for Sports; Art Studio Eleven; Brady Brady Inc.; Cedar’s Business Centre; Chapters/Indigo/Coles; CIBC; Corby’s Custom Framing; Dollar Store & Beyond; Factory Shoe Outlet; First Student Bus Lines; Firehall Dentist; Grasshopper Imports; Guardian Angels Catholic Elementary School; Grumblin’ Granny’s; Hudson Bay Company; Langford IDA; Mastermind Toys; McDonald’s; Pot O’ Gold Jewellers; Shoppers Drug Mart; Sugar Bush Xmas Trees; Thorpe Toys Online; Tim Hortons; Value Village and Walmart.

Your generous support is greatly appreciated by the Sabres Tyke team and the medical team and patients at Sick Kids.

Darrell and Marianne Dietz
