Letter to the Editor: Teens need parents to set example

Dear Editor:

I am writing in regards to the article concerning underage drinking. I agree with the suggestion of the jury that there should be laws set in place concerning underage drinking.

The mother of Chris Skinner’s friend did not set a very good example. Children need parents to set examples, as well as give direction. Neither was seen in this sad story.

In cases like these, we see that the laws concerning this type of issue do not suffice. Fines should be given to not only the supplier of the alcohol, but also the underage teen. Hopefully something good can come from all of this and there will be parents who see what a great responsibility they have raising their children. Parents should be parents and know where to draw the line. It is better to have an angry, disappointed teen than a dead one.
