Dear Editor:
Re: Parking, traffic concerns at Webster’s Falls, Review, Dec. 15
I am astounded and disgusted that some privileged residents in the Webster’s Falls area feel it is their right to curtail picnicking in the park.
For those who are forced to leave their homes (for the cottage?), I would offer the following food for thought.
Homes in this area have large acreages. Try spending time in your back garden on the weekend.
Go to the park and observe the joyful faces of families having picnics.
Look at their children playing, who might otherwise be cooped up in high-rise apartment buildings.
Imagine yourself in a similar situation.
Take time to chat with some visitors to the park. You might be surprised to find how interesting and friendly they can be.
Finally, take a look around at the end of the day and realize how respectful the picnickers are of our beautiful park. You will find little litter left behind.
My husband and I are frequent walkers in this wonderful area and enjoy both the tranquility of weekdays and the fascinating diversity of weekend
visitors.
