There are some fresh faces behind the counter, but Dutch Mill Country Market will maintain its countryside charm under the management of its new owners, Janet and Tony Simeone.

The couple, originally from Mississauga, purchased the establishment from Ed and Elaine Scharringa late last month and is anticipating great success for the Millgrove Side Road business.

When the Simeones first visited Dutch Mill Country Market, "I fell in love with it," explained Tony, who owned and operated a specialty food and fruit market with his wife.

After working 80 to 90 hours per week for the last 25 years at the Credit Valley Fruit Market, the couple is looking forward to getting away from the hustle and bustle of busy Mississauga.

The Simeones are starting to get their feet wet in the business, making minor changes to the establishment's services to accommodate its patrons. Already, a new fresh fruit salad bar was added to the restaurant and breakfast is now being served at the facility.

"Things we can add to it will complement the existing operation and it should be a success," said Tony. For example, the new owners look forward to hosting birthday celebrations and other private functions at the establishment.

The Scharringas will continue to care for the wholesale garden supply aspect of the business, Dutch Mill Gardens. The partnership between the couples, explained Tony, will be beneficial to all involved.

"We need her (Elaine's) help and she is still doing what she loves doing, so it's a beautiful fit," he said.
