Brown’s Martial Arts is hosting a series of events to help those in need this holiday season.
Next month, the Waterdown facility will be running early morning combat cardio classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 6:15 a.m.
The sessions begin Tuesday, Dec. 4 and wrap up on Thursday, Dec. 20.
The no-contact combat cardio classes will feature a mix of participants, including moms, dads, competitive members and individuals who have never worked out before. The workout will incorporate various styles, such as kickboxing, and the use of equipment, including kettlebells, TRX, medicine balls, resistance bands, and more.
“We are taking December to give back to the community,” said Emily Kulpaka, from Brown’s Martial Arts. “It is a chance to preview these classes with no commitment, while assisting the community.”
There is no set fee to attend the classes, however organizers suggest a donation between $5-$10 be made. All proceeds from the sessions will go to the Compassion and Peace Society of Canada and Hamilton Victory Gardens.
BMA would like to donate to two other not-for-profits and is asking participants to help them choose appropriate organizations.
“We believe it’s important to recognize the efforts of individuals working successfully with a grassroots organization,” said Kulpaka.
Interested community residents are welcomed to drop in at 10 Franklin St. in Waterdown or call 905-690-8184 to reserve a spot.
On combat cardio class days, doors to the Waterdown facility will open at 5:10 a.m.
