Christie Ice Bowl

Flamborough Review

The 2013 Christie Lake Ice Bowl, held on Saturday, Jan. 19 at Christie Lake Conservation Area, was a big success.

Some 65 players turned out to enjoyed two rounds of disc golf. While the weather featured warm temperatures, disc golfers had to brave wind gusts of up to 40 kilometres per hour.

The annual event is held throughout North America in an attempt to raise money and food for local food banks, as well as to promote the sport – one of the fastest growing activities in the world.

Locally, $825 was raised at this year’s tourney, which will boost the Salvation Army of Canada.

All food items collected at the Jan. 19 event –  a whopping 751 lbs. – will be donated to the Salvation Army’s Dundas location in support of its food bank services.
