55+ bowlers strike high scores at Waterdown Lanes

Again members of the 55+ Bowling League gathered at Waterdown Lanes, a facility now freshly carpeted and tiled, the lanes gleaming with the new flooring.

There were still a few people missing at last week’s game because they had booked vacations at this time, but still a good crowd.

Most outstanding was Art Hutchinson, who bowled 321. Good work, Art!

This week, team 4, captained by Tony Vanzanvoort, munched on the pizza earned last week by Art Hutchinson for his outstanding 321 score. While he enjoyed the pie, the rest of the league savoured chocolate cake supplied by Don and

Marlene Hyatt, owners of the Hamilton Street North bowling facility.

55+ League honours the birthdays of all its members and this week in particular, John Valk, who celebrated his 83rd birthday.

Congratulations, John, keep those pins falling!

For November 26, the men’s high single score was achieved by Bob Bragdon (239),  followed by Earl Dickie (200) and Bill Crooker (197).

The ladies high went to Carol Bleses, who bowled 216, Lillian Williams with 197 and Avis Vale, who scored 189.

Bob Bragdon had the high triple for men with 635 and Carol Bleses had the high triple for ladies with 533.

If you haven’t bowled in a long time, don’t let these scores stop you from trying again. Only a few can achieve high scores regularly, for most of us (including yours truly) a good score is a pleasant surprise!

There is still room for a few more bowlers over the age of 55, as well as people of any age in  the other leagues.
Come try your skill! You’ll like it!

For more information call 905-689-4782 or drop by Waterdown Lanes in the Village Plaza on Hamilton Street North.

The 55+ Bowling League meets every Monday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.
