The Rod & Gun Club elected its new executive last month, and there weren't many changes.

Wayne Milford will carry on as president for a second year. Roman Pietrowski moves from the position of secretary to first vice-president and second vice-president will be Paul Skinner. Walter Kibzey will continue on as treasurer.

The new secretary is Richard Ray, while Dave Atkinson continues on as membership chairman. Gary Paron and Gerry Beale will continue on in their roles as trap chairman and building chairman, respectively. Mark Milford will be looking after fishing and archery.

The final club point totals for the Silver Horseshoe Trap League are as follows: the Galt club finished on top with 27.5 points, Waterford was second with 23.5 points, H.A.H.A. had 15 points and Waterdown was close behind them with 14.

The April 13 shoot at Galt was also to decide the individual class winners.

Waterdown's Brad Treanor shot 50 out of 50 to win A Class, while teammate Harvey Mantel took B Class with 43 out of 50.

Gary Paron shot 366 out of 400 and Reg Treanor shot 285 out of 300 for the Waterdown club's season highs.

TURKEY HUNTING

Wild turkey hunting season is still on and I hear some of the club members saying they have seen them, but so far only one has reported a successful hunt.

Jim Sales took a 22-pound bird and has seen a number of others. They are big, good-looking birds.

The season will be open until the end of May, so I expect there will be more successful hunters.

Walleye fishing opened May 3 in the Bay of Quinte waters. Murray Laking fished his usual Hay Bay waters, and they caught eight fish over the weekend. The weather was not too good, but if the fish are biting, people will butt up with a little discomfort to catch their limit. We expect to give it a try in a couple weeks, so I hope it warms up a bit and the fish are still biting.

Wayne Milford has organized a fly-in fishing trip for the latter part of June. The group will drive to Chapleau and fly out from there.

Wayne has fished this water before and had good success, so we expect this trip to produce some great fishing.

WINTER WRAP-UP

The Waterdown Rod & Gun Club's Trap House League wound up its winter season on April 27 with a Class shoot to decide individual class winners.

Victor Tomlinson beat out Wayne Milford's 48 with a 49 out of 50 to win A Class. B Class was won by Kevin Debruyn with 46 and C Class was taken by Mike Barbour with 44. D Class was won by yours truly, with a 36.

Zack Amos was the high junior with 35 and Al Ficzere shot a 47 to win the High Senior trophy.

The shoot wrapped up with trophy awards and a fried chicken lunch.
