The two-day event will attract driving talents from all across the province for this final competition of motor mania.
More than 300 laps of main event stock car racing thrills will be shared between eight Canadian auto classes, including a final appearance of the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Models and twin 50-lap challenges for the Late Model class, the premier division of southern Ontario grassroots racing.
Main event
The annual gathering has become a Canadian motorsport tradition, and is the must-see event of the year. Hundreds of race teams will attempt to qualify to be part of the main event on Sunday afternoon.
Also part of the event will be the finale of the 2008 Flamboro home series. Hagersville’s Dave Bailey has dominated the Napa Waterdown Auto Parts division all summer, with 13 feature race wins to his credit, and has all but accepted the trophy for repeating as the division champion.
Jason Shaw of Guelph has had similar success in the Grisdale Late Model class, but not in as dominant a fashion. The title battle will come down to the line on this final weekend as Shaw has been dogged for weeks by Hillsburgh’s Paul Howse.
The biggest battle of the summer was in the Midtown Carstar Thunder Car class, between defending champion Randy ‘the Rocket’ Rusnell of Cambridge, and local favourite Kevin Albers of Rockton. Albers has been chasing his first track championship all summer long and picked up his fourth feature victory just two weeks ago, but despite the outstanding effort, the top of the ladder has remained out of reach.
