END OF SEASON: The Waterdown Wolves Mosquito rep bas...
The squad kicked off the season back in February, with indoor practice in the gym at St. Thomas School. The players practiced basic skills and began learning how to work together as a team. The boys continued on to have a great season, competing against regional teams from Burlington, Brampton, Milton and Mississauga.
The Wolves completed a winning season, capturing 10 wins during 18 regular season games. In addition, the team participated in the Beamsville Invitational tournament, where they made it through to the semifinals.
Throughout the year, each player had a chance to step up to the pitching mound and throw a few balls in a game situation. This skill was new for many of the team members, who have moved up from Rookieball.
Twelve teams from across the province, including Waterdown, competed in the Ontario Baseball Association finals.
Each Wolves player worked hard throughout the season, improving their skills and sportsmanship, which was evident during provincial tournament play. The boys made it through to the semifinal round, which they lost 3-2 to Belle River. The game was full of suspense as each team displayed tight defence and excellent pitching skills. The final score could have easily gone in favor of the Wolves, however, Belle River made a sixth inning steal home that sealed the championship.
The Wolves roster included Braden Currie, Caleb Feuerstake, Chris Parker, Jack Dickenson, Jake Blance, Logan Rosa, Mason Brewer, Nick Criminisi, Riley Perks, Spencer Ritchie and Ty Beauparlant.
The coaching staff made it possible for the boys to have fun while playing the great sport of baseball. The staff consisted of Jamie Blance, Greg Parker, Kevin Keith, Mark Brewer and Scot Ritchie.
This year’s team sponsors, Criminisi and Company Chartered Accountants and Waterdown Sports, ensured a wonderful season for the boys.
