The Flamborough Tyke 2 Sabres opened their season with a tough test against the Hespeler Shamrocks last Sunday.
The Sabres came out with the intent of improving on their pre-season performance against Hespeler and the first period saw end-to-end action with plenty of chances.
The deadlock was broken by Hespeler near the end of the first period. The second and third periods were the same as the first, with breakaways, bruising hits and shots flying everywhere. In the end, Hespeler managed one more goal to finish the game, 2-0.
Throughout the contest, the Sabres showed grit and resolve, resulting in a big improvement over the team’s previous performance in Hespeler.
SabreStars of the game include Ryan “Wrecking Ball” Riggs, Billy “the Jungle Cat” Moore and Gerrett “The Iceman” Cottrell.
