The Flamborough Sabre Tyke AA Hockey team played Brampton in their fifth round-robin game of the playoffs. At 3-1, the Sabres needed a win to keep their championship hopes alive, and the team was up to the task, emerging with a 3-0 victory.

With enthusiasm and determination the team was ready to march past the Battalion, for the second time in the playoffs.

The Sabres exploded out of the gate and pressured the Battalion early and often. The team needed a spark, and they would get it from rock solid defenceman Dylan MacDonald. Liam O’Dell and Tyler Schaap worked the puck to MacDonald, and he burst in all alone on goal.

Dylan made no mistake, burying his first goal of the year, and the Sabres were ahead 1-0.

In the second, Schaap, Johnny Brown and O’Dell worked hard in the Battalion zone. Later on, Riley Zimmerman and Schaap moved the puck to Mats Nixon whose rocket from the high slot eluded the Brampton netminder. It was 3-0 Sabres.

Defencemen Ethan Delmastro, Jarred Yates, Justin Thornhill, MacDonald and Jacob Dietz foiled Brampton at every turn. Patrick Dutto, in goal, made many crucial saves, and was rewarded with a well-deserved shutout.

With one game remaining in the round-robin format, the Sabres have proven that they want to play for the championship.
