Waterdown resident Debbie Stanton coached her synchronized swimming team to a gold medal sweep at the 2010 Ontario Winter Games held in Bracebridge.
The 13 to 15 age group team placed first in all events entered, after qualifying for the games back in January.
Five gold medals
Under Stanton’s direction, the team amassed an impressive collection of five gold medals over three days of competition.
The Waterdown resident has been the head coach of Mississauga Synchronized Swimming Association for 15 years and has commuted from Waterdown since 2000.
This year was the club’s best ever result at the Ontario Winter Games. Swimmers placed first in compulsory figures, solo, duet, landrill and team routine.
Stanton lives with her husband and three children who are all active in local athletics including rep hockey, baseball and competitive swimming.
