Greenleaf boys city champs

The Allan A. Greenleaf Public School junior boys’ volleyball team captured the city championship title after defeating Dundas Central, 3-1, in the Hamilton-Wentworth Middle Schools Athletic Association finals.

The Greenleaf squad, including Timmy Howell, Lucas Thompson, Omar Issa, Josh Palmer, Conner Poroszlay, James Vandyk, Ehab Issa, Mitchell Gordon, Corey Brooke, Stuart Marler, Brad Butler, Josh Metham, Connor Snider and Jack Iannuzzi, started the season on the right foot, spiking a 2-1 win against Dundas Central. The team, coached by Cooper Brooke, Adam Scholz and Zac Maclellan with the support of teachers Nirogi Wijayasingha and Jan Steinberg, then shut out Balaclava and Hebrew Academy, 2-0.

In November, the Greenleaf boys captured wins against Dalewood and Flamborough Centre, before  moving on to the playoffs, where they defeated Hebrew Academy, 3-1, Chedoke, 3-0, Lawfield, 3-0 and Dundas Central, 3-1, for the city title.
