The Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) invites Hamilton residents, business owners and associations to attend a Public Open House and learn about the Upper Spencer, Fletcher and Flamborough Creeks Stewardship Action Plans.
HCA staff has recently prepared the drafts of these plans, the final of which will guide local partners in the implementation of stewardship actions to better manage existing natural areas, to restore degraded areas and to maintain the natural environment in a healthy state for today and the future.
The aim is to develop comprehensive Action Plans that restore and protect the health of local streams and their ecosystems. The Action Plans are the last of a 5-year plan development process for the subwatersheds of the Spencer Creek watershed. They identify stresses that are impacting the natural environment, measurable targets for outreach, restoration and special study opportunities, and aim to engage partner agencies to work together to mitigate these stresses.
HCA is providing an opportunity for members of the community to learn more about the action plans and to share their thoughts and concerns at the open house on Tuesday, January 31, 6-8:30 p.m., at Valens Community Centre (1818 Valens Road). A brief presentation will be given at 7 p.m.
