Hamilton author holds book signing at Pickwick Books in Waterdown

Flamborough Review

Hamilton author Stephen B. Pearl will be at Pickwick Books on Saturday, Dec. 8, signing copies of his works, Tinker’s Plague and Nukekubi.

Tinker’s Plague is a post-apocalyptic, science fiction, medical and political thriller. A betrayed by pretty-minded superiors in Novo Gaia, Brad and Carla race to save innocents from the blind hatred of long-dead killers. The Earth is struggling to rebuild itself from the excesses of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Brad, a Doctor of General Applied Technologies colloquially known as a Tinker, travels the Dark Lands – areas without electricity – helping the people bootstrap themselves back from the edge of civilization. All until he finds the plague in the town of Guelph.

“Stephen can truly spin a tale,” said Chris A. Jackson of Pearl’s work. “(The) Tinker’s Plague novel really is the most original post-apocalyptic stories I’ve read in, well, forever.”

Nukekubi is a paranormal, detective novel. From ancient times nukekubi have hunted the land of Japan. Living as men by day, these beasts slip their heads free of their flesh at night and go in search of human prey. These hapless souls are driven into a terrified madness that results in their death.

Ray McAndrues, a modern day wizard, must neutralize a nukekubi that is feasting on the people of Toronto. He is aided by Cathy, a sorceress of numerous charms, and Toshiro and Kunio, two, Japanese, martial artists, who have made hunting nukekubi their lives’ work.

“I was absolutely spellbound by this book and I applaud the imagination and creativity the author put in this book,” noted Nora Chipley Barteau of Reviewers Helping Authors in a review of Nukekubi.

Pearl will be signing his latest works and meeting fans at Pickwick Books, located at 325 Dundas St. East, Waterdown, from 1 until 3 p.m.
