Make a donation at the LCBO and boost Mac Kids

Flamborough Review

Help support McMaster Children’s Hospital this holiday season by making a donation at LCBO locations across the province, including Waterdown.

Donation boxes for McMaster Children’s Hospital will be displayed at LCBO checkout counters until Jan. 5, 2013. LCBO customer service representatives will also invite costumers to add a $2, $5, or $10 donation to their purchase to further boost the cause.

Last year’s festive campaign raised more than $217,000 for the Hamilton children’s hospital.

“We are deeply grateful for the amazing support that McMaster Children’s Hospital receives from LCBO employees and costumers,” said Pearl Veenema, president and chief executive officer of the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation. “Funds raised through the Giving Back In Our Community campaign help ensure that McMaster Children’s Hospital has the equipment and other resources it needs to provide extraordinary care to thousands of children and families in south-central Ontario.

“We are proud to partner with McMaster Children’s Hospital for the annual Giving Back In Our Community campaign,” said LCBO president and chief executive officer, Bob Peter. “LCBO costumers and staff continue to raise record dollars for great charities that make a positive difference in children’s and young people’s lives across Ontario. We hope to surpass the record $2.6 million raised last December with the public’s continued generous support.”

McMaster Children’s Hospital is one of many recipients that will benefit from LCBO’s province-wide donation box program this year. In 2011, the LCBO raised more than $6.2 million for charities through special programs and initiatives, of which $5.7 million was raised through in-store fundraising. In addition, LCBO’s annual dividend transfer to the Ontario government, which totaled $1.63 billion in fiscal 2011-2012, excluding taxes, supports a wide range of important government program, services, and priorities, including health care and education.
