Flamborough Review

The Optimist Club of Strabane invites all students under the age of 19 to participate in the 2012-2013 Oratorical Contest, sponsored by the local service club.

The topic of this year’s contest is “Why my voice is important.” The contest is open to all students under the age of 19, who have not yet graduated from high school or equivalent. There is no minimum age requirement.

The application form is available on the Optimist International web site or by searching “Optimist International Oratorical Contest 2012-2013” in a search engine.

Prizes for best speeches presented at the club level in March, 2013 will include $500 for first place, $300 for second place and $200 for the individual who comes in third.

The winner will be expected to compete at the district level in Oakville for a chance to win a $2,500 bursary.

Contestants must submit their speeches to Don McConnell by the February 13, 2013 deadline.
