Members of the Grandmothers of Steel are organizing an event that is sure to turn any frown upside down.
On Saturday, Feb.16, the not-for-profit group is putting on its annual Giggles and Grins, a humour happening in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign.
The fourth instalment of event will feature presentations by comedians and other special guests at the First Unitarian Church (170 Dundurn St. South) in Hamilton.
Hosted by Adrienne Sloan and Sharron Orovan Johnston, who successfully ran the First Canadian Humour Conference before partnering with the Grandmothers of Steel, promises to leave guests in stitches.
As attendees laugh the afternoon away, they’ll help raise funds for grandmothers living in sub-Saharan Africa left to care for their grandchildren orphaned by AIDS. All proceeds from the event will support the African grandmothers’ grassroots projects through the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
Tickets for the Feb. 16 Giggles and Grins event, which runs from 1 until 4 p.m., cost $25 and are available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling Theresa at 905-765-5487 or Adrienne at 905-575-5329.
