The Toronto Argonauts are said to be considering holding their 2016 training camp at the University of Guelph.

Media reports have said the Canadian Football League team is in negotiations with the U of G to hold camp there.

University of Guelph athletics director Scott McRoberts said on Tuesday that the club has checked out the U of G digs, but the rest right now sounds as up in the air as a long Hail Mary pass.

“The Argos had come to view our facilities, at this point in time I have no further information,” said McRoberts, in an email.

Last year’s Argos roster included Guelph native Jake Reinhart, a Guelph CVI grad who went on to star for the Guelph Gryphons football team.

The Argos, who held training camp at the U of G decades ago, have used York University for camp the past couple of years.

In 2013, the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats played all but one of their home games at the University of Guelph’s Alumni Stadium while their new stadium was being built.

Alumni Stadium has had several upgrades in recent years.

The 2016 CFL season kicks off in June.
