One man dead after veering into a ditch off Highway 6 in Hamilton

A man is dead after his vehicle landed in a ditch on Highway 6 in Hamilton on Thursday morning.

OPP were called to Highway 6 south of Carlisle Road after the crash occurred around 11:30 a.m.

Witnesses saw a white work truck travelling south before veering off the road and into the west ditch, Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the OPP said in a video posted to Twitter.

Officers removed the 63-year-old man, the sole occupant, from the vehicle and performed CPR. The man, who OPP say was from Acton, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead

Southbound lanes on Highway 6 were closed between Carlisle Rd and Mountsberg Road for several hours Thursday afternoon, but reopened close to 4 p.m.

The OPP’s collision reconstruction teams are investigating. Police ask witnesses to call the Burlington OPP with any information.

A man is dead after his vehicle landed in a ditch on Highway 6 in Hamilton on Thursday morning.
