Beverly Bandits steal the show to open '05 season

The Beverly Bandits Bantam Boys Rep Hockey Team opened the season in October with a 4 and 1 record.

In the opening game, Beverly defeated St. George, 3-0, with Kelsan Gehlert picking up the shutout and Joel Blanken, Steven Laurence and Jordan Grundy scoring the goals.

Ayr handed Beverly their first defeat of the season by a score of 3-1. Brett Ofield scored the lone Beverly goal, while Steve Bancarz played a strong game in net.

Gehlert picked up his second straight shutout as Beverly defeated Embro, 4-0. Dillon Campbell led the way with two goals and an assist, while Laurence and Ofield each chipped in with a goal and two assists.

Facing off against New Hamburg in Grand Valley League play, the Bandits notched an 8-3 victory. Blanken paced the Beverly attack with three goals and one assist. Laurence added two goals and Steven Morganweg, Grundy and Taylor Jensen each added singles.
