So box up that Christmas spirit

News Nov 22, 2006 Flamborough Review

Local residents are reminded to box up some of that spirit a little early.

This past year, people in North America, Europe and Australia packed more than 6.5 million shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse to deliver to 95 countries through Operation Christmas Child. Organizers hope that Flamborough will contribute to the cause, and fill shoeboxes to be sent to hurting children around the world. Shoeboxes will be collected around Waterdown until the Santa Claus Parade (November 26) at the following locations: Busy Bee Toys (in Sobeys plaza), Curves for Women (Fortinos plaza) and at the Flamborough Municipal Service Centre (163 Dundas St. East, Waterdown).

November 19 is Flamborough Day at the Operation Christmas Child Ontario sorting and shipping warehouse in Kitchener. Anyone who would like to volunteer to help sort shoeboxes and assist in getting them shipped out can call the Flamborough Operation Christmas Child Committee at 905-690-1918 for more information. November 19 is also Media Day/Open House at the warehouse, which will be open for tours. Call 1-800-303-1269 for details.
