HWDSB seeks temporary trustee

News Nov 22, 2006 Flamborough Review

Residents from all corners of the city are invited to apply for the job as school trustee, to replace Wayne Marston.

Marston was elected MP for Hamilton East Stoney Creek in the Jan 23 election. His resignation has left a vacancy in Ward 5 of the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board.

The board recently passed a motion to launch the appointment process. Under municipal election law, a by-election can't be held during an election year; the board elections will be held in November, and nominations are already open for the race.

In the interim, the remaining trustees will be accepting applications and conducting interviews to select a temporary replacement for Marston.

The position is open to all Hamilton residents, who are Canadian citizens, and at least 18 years old.
